Free-motion Quilting for Beginners Class 2 Ruler Work
This class offers instruction on using templates and rulers with a domestic machine. The skills learned can also be used on sit down quilting machines such as the Baby Lock Tiara.
Participants will learn how to:
- Prepare for quilting
- Make sample blocks with motifs and borders using stencils and rulers (Various rulers and stencils will be available in the classroom)
- Connect stenciled designs
- Apply free-motion skills to the fill the background
- Make sample blocks with rulers, stencils, and free-motion
- Combine techniques to create beautiful, interesting quilting designs
Supply list (all are required unless otherwise noted):
- Sewing Machine with RULER FOOT--this is required for successful ruler work!
- A sewing extension table that fits your machine (optional but highly recommended)
- Super Glider Sheet (optional but highly recommended)
- A pair of quilting gloves
- Standard sewing supplies
- Extra Needles for your machine…80/12 or 90/14
- 8 practice sandwiches (sixteen 14”x 14” square pieces of muslin or solid cotton of any color, 8 pieces batting of your choice cut in 14” squares. Make the practice sandwiches prior to coming to class.
- Thread to match the fabric you are using and a contrasting thread
- Pencil or pen for drawing on paper
- Marking pen for fabric
