Stitch Book

Stitch Book Class
2 Sessions - Saturday, June 15th & June 29th
10:30 am - 2:00 pm
$30
Unlock your sewing machine’s potential and your creativity by stitching out all the preprogrammed stitches on your machine.
Most of today’s machines have so many practical and decorative stitches. Your owner’s manual and the screen (or on the front, or inside the lid) of your machine show the graphic version of the stitch; this image rarely resembles the actual stitch. Stitching it on fabric with beautiful threads will bring the stitches to life and show their real beauty.
In the first class, we will talk about the many options you will have when creating your book. We will start the layout of your stitch book “pages” and begin stitching in class.
You will have 2 weeks to stitch out all the stitches on your machine.
In the second class, you will learn how to cover and personalize your stitch book. A supply list will be given out in the first class.
Supply List:
Machine with a new needle and 2 full bobbins (60 wt bobbin thread)
Your machine's feet, some stitches may need a certain foot for specific stitches.
Fabric - This is up to you! However, you will want a solid or light tone on tone fabric; but I have seen beautiful stitch books created with black fabric. See sample book in the shop for ideas.
Thread - Another choice to make; your thread should contrast with your chosen fabric. We will be using embroidery thread, it really shows off your stitches!
SF-101 Woven Fusible Interfacing
Frixon Iron Off marking pen
Micron Pen 01, your choice of color. You can purchase during class after you decide how you
will number your stitches.
Mini 3-Ring 2 inch Binder, 5½ x 8½ (Amazon purchase, made by Avery)
OR regular 3-ring binder found at most office supply stores.
Sheet Protectors to fit the size of your chosen binder.
Regular office ruler 12" and pencil
Pre-Class Prep - must have ready!!!
You will need 2 or 3 pieces of your fabric, backed with your SF-101 stabilizer, and cut ½” larger,
on both dimensions for class.
Ex: If you have a 5½" x 8½” binder, cut your fabric to 6” x 9”.
If you have an 8½" x 11” binder cut your fabric to 9” x 11½”.
