A little Tree of Life

Come learn new sewing techniques while you make a three-dimensional Tree of Life you will love.  The quilt has leaves that stand out from the background.  Add your own touches if you like with buttons, medallions, or old jewelry.  When your friends see this special quilt, they will want one, too.

Instructor: Kristy Ottinger
Instructor Bio: Best known for her Tree of Life and narrative, visionary art quilts, Kristy Moeller Ottinger embellishes her work relentlessly, using found objects, embroidery, paint, and writing. As she moved through her formal art education, she dabbled in other media, eventually earning an MFA in painting and sculpture, but a scholarship to Burren College of Art in Ireland introduced her to an Irish quilter who provided bits of silk for her first art quilt. Her first love reawakened; Kristy became a fiber artist. Now, Kristy's exquisitely detailed story quilts show her artful, meticulous sewing skill, as well as demonstrating her talent for incorporating any found objects that enhance the stories told by her pieces.
