English Paper Piecing is not just hexagons! This is a hands on class.
Learn how to make a six pointed fabric star using 2 inch diamond shapes. You can leave the class with a completed star.
Stars can decorate your home inside and outside for any occasions. They are easy to store and make great gift tags, hostess gifts and holiday decorations.
This is a great use of scraps!
This is a hand piecing project, however, after the diamonds are prepared, I will demonstrate both hand piecing and machine piecing methods to compete the project
Skill level: Beginner to intermediate
Class limited to 10 participants
Supplies to bring to class:
Six 2 inch diamond paper pieces or a four inch diamond template and light card stock to make paper pieces. Pre-made paper pieces can be purchased at the store or from Paperpieces.com.
Fabric (you can use on fabric for the entire star or as many fabrics as you like) You will need enough fabric to cut six diamonds. Strips need to be four inches wide by length of fabric for a one color star.
Felt for star backing. An 8.5x11 inch piece of felt can make two stars
60 Degree triangle ruler.** I will have one at the class to borrow if needed
Hand piecing needle and thread
Wonder clips or small binder clips are helpful but not mandatory
Piece of ribbon or twine approx.. 6-8 inches long if you wish to attach a hanger. ***
I will also have extra ribbon available
