FREE MOTION Quilting Techniques and Tips
This is a beginner to intermediate class for those who wish to explore and or expand their free motion quilting skills. Class will be applicable for domestic, sit down and long arm machine quilters.
I will be demonstrating several basic quilting designs that you can expand upon to create more complex designs. We will discuss quilt paths, how to avoid getting stuck in spaces, echo quilting, and more.
Skill level: Beginner to intermediate
Class limited to 10 participants
Materials to bring:
Working sewing machine-Spring Loaded Free Motion Foot
Thread
scissors
A small (at least a fat quarter size quilt sandwich to use as practice (best if fabric is a solid color on one
side and a print on the other side. Print can be floral, geometric, anything that reminds you of a quilting
pattern design) Don't make your practice piece too large to avoid having to struggle quilting in your throat space.
Pad of non-lined paper at least 8.5×11 inches. Copy paper also appropriate. Please bring 10 pages for
practicing designs
Pencil (Any writing instrument will do but a pencil works best)
