Ruler Work
Session II - Rule Your Quilt
Using Templates and Rulers –
Participants will learn how to do the following:
prepare your machine for successful free motion using rulers and other tools
make sample blocks with various motifs
check and maintain an appropriate tension
form beautiful designs with the use of templates, stencils, and rulers
how to connect designs for continuous quilting
Applying basic quilting techniques to fill the background around a motif
Supplies need for class:
- · Ruler Foot to fit your machine. You will need to know if you have a low shank or a high shank machine and purchase the appropriate ruler foot.
- · An extension table for your machine. This is required for successful ruler work.
- · Quilting gloves, garden gloves, or other tools for quilting
- · Purchase at least one ruler of your choice. Be sure to select rulers designed for the type of machine you have
- (high shank or low shank).
- · At least 4 quilt sandwiches made with your choice of batting and solid or tone on tone fabric (muslin is a great choice)
- · A pounce pad (with iron off chalk, if possible)…I will have some stencils that you can use in class
Heavenly Stitches should have all of the supplies you will need for class.
